Importantly, Shockwave therapy treatments are extraordinarily low impact and painless, this means whatever the problem, a patient can walk in for an appointment and walk out with no side effects one hour later. Call into our central London, Welbeck Street clinic for a full consultation.

Treatments include:

Erectile Dysfunction
Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS)
Peyronie's Disease (Penile Curvature)

Shockwave Therapy for erectile dysfucntion, Peronies and CPPS involves passing painless, short, intense sound waves into affected tissues, which increases blood flow, has an analgesic effect and stimulates repair and regeneration. The treatment puts the cells into repair mode and allows your body to restart its own accelerated healing process.

 In Erectile Dysfunction Shockwave Therapy is known to improve erections by;

1) The development of new blood vessels within the penis, this means that blood flow to the penis increases leading to stronger, firmer erections.

2) Rejuvenates the muscles  – Damage to the smooth muscle in the penile arteries can be repaired by Shockwave Therapy which induces the body natural repair process and therefore the smooth muscle in the penis is repaired.

How many treatments are required for ED?

This depends on the diagnosis and the severity of the issue. Typically we recommend six treatments, one per week. This would be combined with advice on diet and exercise. However, there is no downside to continuing the treatments, if you feel greater improvement is desired.

Can I speak to someone if I am unsure if I have ED and just want some advice?

Yes. Through consultation we will explain the possible causes of ED and see if they apply to you. From there you can identify whether to keep an eye out for the onset of problem ED, or proceed straight to treatment options. Tackling ED early is much easier to treat, and can stop problems from getting worse.

Are there any other non-drug, non-invasive treatments for ED readily available?

Unfortunately not. Drugs can be effective, but they don’t suit everyone and they can have side effects. Shockwave Therapy is perhaps the most effective alternative, and can be combined with complementary drug-based treatments.

Is this treatment available on the NHS?

No. Shockwave treatment is available for tendon-related injuries but not for ED.

Would you recommend treatments even if the problem is not too bad at the moment but performance issues are getting worse?

There is growing body of evidence to suggest that early treatment is effective. Once the problem has become chronic and performance is very poor, it is much more difficult and expensive to treat. With a consultation, review and treatment every six months, for example, you will probably maintain performance for the rest of your life.

There is such a stigma attached to ED – I don’t want to talk about it. What do you recommend?

Erectile Dysfunction is a very personal issue that affects not only you and your partner’s sex life, but your entire well-being. We understand how sensitive this issue can be, but the reality is that as one gets older, physical performance declines in many areas, and sexual organs are no different. By understanding what’s happening on a biological level, you can set aside any stigma and treat the problem as if it were any other physical ailment. Erectile Dysfunction has been spoken about quite openly in the media in recent years by many famous face, including Sir Ian Botham who under went Shockwave Therapy for ED. This has helped many men seek treatment for this problem. It’s helped to remove the stigma and embarrassment and highlights that you are not alone.
